Howdy, world!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website and blog :). At the time of writing, I am a computer science and cybersecurity double major in my final semester at the University of Central Arkansas. I plan to become a computer science professor and research ways to improve computer science and cybersecurity education. I would love to carry out this work with non-profits and other educators, especially in underserved communities and school districts. I believe teaching isn’t just a profession but the culmination of learning. It’s one of my greatest passions, and I couldn’t see myself in a career without a connection to education.
I’m also an interdisciplinary studies minor (read: dilettante), which has helped me foster a deep appreciation for fields like religious studies, economics, and literature. Apart from sporadic life updates, I plan to blog primarily about my computer science research and areas of personal interest. I won’t presume that my ramblings are of interest to others, but I’ll treat this blog as a canvas to lay out and clarify my thoughts on those topics. Writing is an art often neglected by STEM students, and I want to be intentional about honing that skill here.
Finally, I suspect I’ll appreciate my effort to document my experiences when I’m further in my educational journey. I’m a sucker for trips down memory lane, and I’d like to look back and see how I’ve grown as a writer, scholar, and person. My goal is to walk the narrow line between formal and engaging, in-depth yet approachable, but mastery of that skill can only come through practice. So however much you should choose to read and engage with me on that journey, I will be genuinely grateful <3.
Best,
Skyler
